Are all Emeralds Treated?
Do all polished emeralds undergo any treatment?
No, contrary to popular belief, not all emeralds are treated.
Although the vast majority of all emeralds are treated with oils and / or resins to improve their clarity, the finest stones that have no cracks of superficial reach are impossible to treat with oil, rendering the process useless.
These rare and extrafine quality stones can be identified by a report from a renowned and trusted laboratory, such as the GIA in the USA, stating that they are untreated.
